What is
PawPaw’s Play Studio?
PawPaw’s Play Studio is a carefully designed space that encourages learning through curiosity, creativity, and confidence. I’ve created an environment that invites children to play freely, discover at their own pace, and connect with others – all while supported by thoughtful activities and gentle adult guidance.
Each week, we introduce a new theme, with age-appropriate setups that spark imagination and support different stages of development. Whether your child is diving into sensory play, tinkering with art materials, or cuddling up in the book nook, every corner of the studio is designed to inspire joyful, independent learning.
Our space includes a beautiful indoor studio and a safe, enclosed outdoor play area, so we can play all year round – rain or shine.
Meet PawPaw
Hi, I’m Paula – but most little ones call me PawPaw! I’m the founder and creative heart behind this special play space in Claremont, Cape Town.
My journey started in the classroom, where I spent nine joyful years as a Montessori teacher working with 2-6 year olds. After that, life took me on an unexpected adventure – I spent seven years at sea managing the interiors of superyachts. It was during that chapter, and while spending time with my niece and nephew (who gave me the name ‘PawPaw’), that the dream for this studio took shape.
Now I’m back doing what I love most – creating beautiful, engaging spaces for children to learn, explore, and grow. PawPaw’s Play Studio is where my love of early childhood education and creative design come together.
Where We’re Located
You’ll find us in the heart of the Southern Suburbs, in a growing little hub that also includes a coffee shop, a physiotherapist and a beautician. There’s off-street parking available, and plenty of space in the quiet cul-de-sac for easy drop-offs and pick-ups.
